Each year, many new stores open in the Magic Valley, and it is exciting to see what new places will call the area home, while offering new eating and shopping options. While new places opening is exciting, many times, places have to close to make room for these new places. The last few years have seen far too many chains, local businesses, and eating establishments close. There were sadly, many places that waved goodbye to the Magic Valley and Idaho in 2025, and these are some of the stores we will miss going forward that closed.

Outback put up a great fight, but it was well known that In-N-Out desired their location, and rumors began to spread rapidly at the beginning of 2025 that Outback would be closing. Despite the rumors, they continued to stay in business for much of the year. However, near the end of August, they closed their doors for good in the Magic Valley. The building quickly came down, and construction is now underway for In-N-Out. Outback offered great food, and it will be missed.

The SodaMix closed in early 2025, with the final closure occurring in February. They had opened in December 2022 and offered cookies, sodas, ice cream, and snacks. They also offered a great place to hang out for Magic Valley residents, or to go through the drive-thru to get your desired drink or snack as you ran errands. They had a great location, and it is sad to see them no longer open in the area. You can read more about The SodaMix by clicking the link above.

Capriotti's closed in the summer, having closed their doors on June 29. Some speculated that their closure meant that Costa Vida next door would be taking over to expand their new store, but the place sits vacant still at the beginning of 2026. Capriotti's offered some delicious sandwiches and had a great location across from Canyon Ridge High School, near the hospital, and near Walmart for those running errands. Despite all this, after 6 years, they closed. What will fill this location? For now, we wait.

This one was a shock and happened quickly and quietly. Duck Donuts was serving donuts as usual, and then it seemed like overnight, they were closed, as their final day in Twin Falls was on October 24. Duck Donuts offered freshly made donuts that you could custom-design and have made in front of you. It offered something different to the area, but sadly, after a few years, it is gone from Twin Falls. For more on Duck Donuts and their time in the Magic Valley, click the link above.

Axe-throwing has become a huge thing over the last few years. There are competitive leagues, it is fun on a weekend night, and it makes for great party ideas. The Magic Valley has many residents who like to get out and throw some axes, which is why it was a shock when Bearded Axe closed back in May. While the closure was sad, the good news is that there are other axe-throwing companies in the area, so residents can still have fun and compete. You are forgiven if you forgot that this closure happened in 2025. Johnny Carino's was perhaps the first place to close in 2025, having posted a sign on their door all the way back in the first week of January. The building has remained vacant for the entire year, and it is currently unknown what will fill the location. Unlike others in the area that closed, it has not been announced if a future chain or restaurant will fill the spot. This closure happened quickly, with a sign appearing on their door and the doors being locked. If you can't remember their closure, click the link for more details.

While not in the Magic Valley, Volcom saw all its stores nationwide close. Many in the Magic Valley liked their clothes, and it was sad news to hear of their closure in 2025. The announcement came back in March that they would be closing, and later in the summer, all locations were gone in Idaho and in the surrounding states as well.
