Ketchum Wagon Days Celebrates 60 Years

KETCHUM, Idaho (KLIX) What is known as the largest non-motorized parade in the Pacific Northwest is set to take place this Labor Day weekend in the mountain town of Ketchum.

Wagon Days will celebrate it's 60th year of old wagons and beast of burden on the streets of Ketchum this Saturday with the traditional parade at 1 p.m. Events leading up to the parade begin on Friday September 1 and continue through Sunday with various events including music entertainment, food, games, and car auction. But, the wagons are the highlight of the weekend, according to the city of Ketchum. Always present are the six Lewis Ore Wagons that are pulled by a team of twenty mules. Other wagons include buggies, stage coach, and carriages among many others.

According to the Wagon Days website, retired Dr. Steven Pauley is the grand marshal for the parade. Dr. Pauley is an advocate of keeping light pollution out of the Wood River Valley and preserving the dark night sky.
