The holiday season officially kicks off this week and many have begun shopping for the holidays or will start this weekend when all the deals begin. Shopping for the holidays can be some of the most fun times of the year, and also some of the most stressful and worst days as well. While most of us will spend lunch hours and nights after work, or perhaps spend our days at work browsing online, others will wait and wait until the last minute. It used to be, going to the mall was where you went to start your shopping and see what you can find, but those days are in the past with online shopping. For those that still enjoy going to the mall though, it isn't what it use to be, and there are ways to make it better. Here are some ways to make holiday shopping at the Magic Valley Mall better this year and beyond.

Curbside pick-up has become a huge part of shopping at major stores over the last couple of years and makes for a great tool for parents with little kids in the car, people unable to get in and out of a store easily, or for places it is too cold to want to get out of the car. The problem with the Magic Valley Mall is there isn't someone to go into the stores and shop for you and then bring it out. Having mall shoppers bring their items out to the car, especially in the cold days of December would be a great way to make the mall in Twin Falls better.

The Magic Valley Mall is nice, but it is missing some of the main stores that other malls across the country have. Macy's is a major store that many enjoy shopping at during the holiday season and adding one into the mall would be beneficial for shoppers in the area. Not just Macy's but adding other big stores like Nordstrom, Belk, or even Victoria's Secret.

While adding the bigger stores will be nice, adding a second floor and giving more options would be beneficial to the residents of the Magic Valley Mall. Yes, there would be a cost of doing construction on the mall, and filling all of those spaces and jobs would be tough, but while the Magic Valley Mall is nice, having a second level to double the number of stores and options would make the shopping experience better and would likely increase the number of visitors daily, especially around the holidays.

Now before you ask yourself how this would make the shopping experience better, this is not a train for kids. How fun would it be to walk into the Magic Valley Mall, and have a train come by to take you to any store you need and to ride as you do your shopping? It saves your feet and legs from all the standing and walking you will do elsewhere, as well as being a fun ride for you or the family as you go through the mall. Yes, it may be quicker to walk sometimes, but if you have the time, enjoy a ride to your next store, or perhaps ride on the train while waiting for somebody you are with to finish their shopping.

A Store for Kids to Christmas Shop in the Magic Valley Mall

When I was a kid there was a store called Santa's Workshop that was a fun pop-up Christmas store where kids would enter through an elf-sized door and an elf would be paired with them to help them Christmas shop for their parents, while the parents waited outside. Now, this store would likely never fly today, but as a kid, it was a cool idea and made me feel like I was shopping for my family and picking out their gift by myself. The store only lasted two years, but I remember it as a great idea. A similar store would be a great idea to allow kids to do their holiday shopping for mom and dad and have some fun with it as well.

Many shoppers will stick to online shopping, where they can complete their lists without ever leaving home or work, but for those that like to get out and go to the mall still, hopefully, some of these ideas will become a reality. The Magic Valley Mall is sure to still play a part in your holiday shopping this year, but wherever you decide to go this year, hopefully, you can find everything you are looking for.
