Grocery shopping is one of those errands that needs to be done routinely but might be the most dreaded of weekly chores. Going to the grocery store is tiring, it is often crowded, and it is the last thing you want to do on a weekend or after a long day of work. If you have to take your children, it only adds to the stress of getting in and out of the grocery store. One of the worst things is when you go to the store, only to find out one of the items on your list is gone, especially if it is an essential item. The next time you go grocery shopping in Idaho, make sure to stock up on a certain item that is becoming tougher and tougher to find as shelves are bare in the Gem State.

For anyone who has gone to the grocery store lately, you may have noticed a select item is missing in the store, and the shelf is bare where this item should be. What is it? The answer of course is eggs. Recently, my family and I went to Costco to do some grocery shopping and where the eggs would normally be, it was completely bare, as they had none available. This is a problem when you consider that eggs are an essential item when it comes to cooking and baking, and many need them each day. While some may say it is only one store, it isn't the only place this is happening, and customers are left searching for eggs.

The price of eggs continues to increase, with even some restaurants increasing their prices lately. Because of this, many have stocked up on eggs to avoid the price increase, or to perhaps sell them for a profit. It is similar to when everyone was stocking up on toilet paper and hand sanitizer back during the pandemic of 2020. If you are lucky enough to be at Costco when they have eggs, it is wise to buy a few to stock up as much as you can. Buying cartons here and there at normal grocery stores will drain your wallet quickly, compared to loading up on bulk when the opportunity presents itself. There is no telling when the price of eggs will come back down, as it is expected to last most of, if not all of 2025.
