Governor Brad Little Orders Idaho Flags at Half-Staff to Honor Police Officer
Idaho Governor, Brad Little, ordered U.S. and Idaho flags to be flown at half-staff to honor a fallen officer. Post Falls Police Officer Nicholas McDaniel passed while on duty on Sunday, October 22nd.
Flags are ordered to be flown at half-staff until the day after Officer McDaniel’s memorial service which is yet to be determined. The directive will be updated when a memorial service date is set.
'All of Idaho mourns when we lose an officer in the line of duty. Officer McDaniel was dedicated to his community and public safety, and we are deeply saddened by his sudden passing. Please keep Officer McDaniel's family, many colleagues, and the Post Falls community in your prayers,' Governor Little said.
The cause of death for Officer McDaniel has been determined to be a heart attack. He failed to respond after completing a call for service. After being transported to Kootenai Medical Center, he was pronounced deceased.
Donations are being accepted for the officer’s family through First Interstate Bank. Any persons wishing to offer a donation are asked to go through official channels to ensure 100% of all donations go directly to the family in their time of need without fear of unintended tax consequences.
