Have Fun With These 8 Events The First Weekend of May in the Magic Valley

Another week is coming to an end and another month as well. April is gone, and May has arrived. Summer is fast approaching, and the weather is getting more consistent, and warmer, and makes for getting outdoors more enjoyable. This weekend will be the first in May and there will be plenty of events in the Magic Valley to enjoy and have fun at. Don't stay indoors and at home and miss out on all the fun.

Thursday, May 1 and Friday, May 2 - CSI Softball

The softball season is winding down and this weekend is the final time to see the CSI softball team in action at home. The team is currently 33-14 and on an eight-game winning streak. They are playing their best at the end of the season and will look to close out the year by winning their final four home games. This weekend the team will play two games on Thursday and two games on Friday against Utah State University Eastern. Thursday, May 1 - Ahren Belisle Comedy Show

Everyone could use a laugh in life to lighten up a bit, and one of the best ways to do so is by attending a comedy show. An amazing young comedian, Ahren Belisle will be performing this Thursday at the Orpheum Theatre and tickets are still available but going fast. You may have seen Belisle on 'America's Got Talent,' 'Kill Tony,' or 'The Joe Rogan Experience.' He has cerebral palsy and uses a phone to speak, but that doesn't stop him from being one of the funniest comedians around. The show is at 7 PM on Thursday and tickets start at $20. Friday, May 2, and Saturday, May 3 - 5th Annual Rock Chuck Derby

Rock chucks can be adorable to some, but a menace to others. They take over fields, destroy crops, and they are overpopulated in the Magic Valley. That is why every year Hagerman hosts the annual Rock Chuck Derby, and this weekend marks the 5th annual event. If you have never been it is worth checking out at least once in life. It'll be happening on Friday from 4 PM to 7 PM and on Saturday from 1 PM to 5:30 PM. There will be live music, gun raffles, a silent auction, and more. Friday, May 2, and Saturday, May 3 - Magic Valley Chorale Spring Concert

The Magic Valley is filled with many skilled singers, and some of these incredible voices come together to form the Magic Valley Chorale. Their spring concert will be happening this weekend and if you want to enjoy a live concert from local voices, there will be two chances to catch them. They will be performing on Friday and Saturday at the CSI Fine Arts Auditorium. The show on Friday will be at 7:30 PM and the show on Saturday will be at 2 PM. Friday, May 2, and Saturday, May 3 - 'The Wizard of Oz: Youth Edition'

Attending the theatre is always special and Twin Falls does a fantastic job of putting on plays and musicals. This weekend a classic, 'The Wizard of Oz: Youth Edition,' will be performed on Friday and Saturday. The show on Friday will be at 7 PM and the shows on Saturday will be at 2 PM and 7 PM. Saturday, May 3 - Mother's Day Market and Best Bite Competition

Mother's Day is fast approaching and will be here before you know it. Don't wait and do last-minute shopping, and instead head out to the Mother's Day Market this Saturday at the Twin Falls County Fairgrounds in Filer from 10 AM to 4 PM. For men that may not want to go, this time you will as there will be food trucks and they will be holding their Best Bite Competition as well. Saturday, May 3 - Movie Matinee

Everyone enjoys the movies, but not everyone wants to pay to go. Instead of emptying your wallet at the theater, how about you go to Movie Matinee this Saturday at the Twin Falls Public Library? This weekend they will be showing 'Sonic The Hedgehog 3' at 3 PM and you can watch it for free. Saturday, May 3 - Magic Valley Speedway Season Opener

For some it has been a long wait for the Magic Valley Speedway to open once more, but the time has come as this Saturday will mark the season opener for the Magic Valley Speedway. It all begins this Saturday and this weekend there will be NASCAR trucks, Idaho Vintage Racers, McDonald's Street Stocks, Thunder Dogs, and much more.
