7 Events To Check Out the First Weekend of August in the Magic Valley

Another month has come to an end as we say goodbye to July and hello to August. This is the month that college football will return, school will start, and summer vacation will end. The days of summer are quickly going by and there are only a couple weekends left until the school year is here. It makes every day, especially the weekends, that much more important, and now is the time to get out and have some fun. The first weekend of August offers some fun events happening in the Magic Valley, and you won't want to miss them, so get out and attend one of them this weekend.

Friday, August 2 - Opposites Attract: Fire & Ice Drag Show

Have you ever attended a drag show before? Have you ever wanted to? For anybody who has never been to one, this weekend is your chance to see what all of the hype is about. Opposites Attract: Fire and Ice Drag Show is happening this Friday at Whiskey Creek Saloon and Grill, located at 1749 Kimberly Road. Saturday, August 3 - Market on Main

The Magic Valley has many farmer's markets that take place every weekend, but one that you must attend at least once during the summer is the Market on Main. It offers a unique environment, being located on Main Street in downtown Twin Falls. This gives you a chance to enjoy the market and check out all the vendors, while also shopping at the stores downtown, and perhaps grabbing lunch as well. Saturday, August 3 and Sunday, August 4 - Magic Valley Comic Con

It is the weekend that all the nerds in the Magic Valley have been waiting for, the first-ever Magic Valley Comic Con is here. The event will be happening both Saturday and Sunday and will be taking place at the Magic Valley Mall. There will be Q&A sessions, games, comic books, celebrity guests, costumes, and so much more. Make sure to dress up and head to the mall. There will be multiple stages, so you will have to plan your schedule accordingly to try and get to everything you can. Saturday, August 3 - Castleford Car Show

For anyone who loves cars or a good time, Castleford is where you want to be this weekend. They will be hosting their annual car show on Saturday, starting at noon, but anyone who has been before knows that it is not just a car show. The show will last until 6:30 PM, but at 7 PM the street dance will begin. Saturday, August 3 - Magic Valley Beer Festival

For anyone who enjoys beer, this weekend is one you have had circled on the calendar for months. The 13th annual Magic Valley Beer Festival returns this weekend, and it will be happening at Twin Falls City Park. Tickets are $30 in advance and $40 at the gate, and you can purchase $20 designated driver tickets if you need a ride home after the event. There will be over 150 different types of beers this year and it all starts at 1 PM on Saturday. There will be live music, silent auctions, raffles, food, and of course beer. Saturday, August 3 - Movie Matinee

Going to the movies has become expensive. By the time you buy tickets, popcorn, drinks, and account for gas, a trip to the movies for two people can easily run over $50. That is why the best way to see a movie in Twin Falls is by going to Movie Matinee at the Twin Falls Public Library. It happens on Saturday at 3 PM, and it is entirely free. Saturday, August 3 - Candlelight: A Tribute to Taylor Swift

If you are a Taylor Swift fan, or someone in your household is, then there is an event this weekend that is a must for you. It might not be Taylor Swift, but this weekend there will be a candlelight concert that will be dedicated to Taylor Swift. The show will be taking place at 360 Event Center, located at 348 4th Ave S in Twin Falls. The performance will be at 6:30 PM and will last around an hour.
