Some parents groups across the country are hosting fundraisers for the purchase of Barracuda Intruder Defense systems.

These devices are marketed towards schools, hotels, consumers that travel, and anyone who wants an extra layer of security.

As you can see in the YouTube video provided, the device is easily installed on any commercial doorknob, underneath a door, or on a door hinge. The device claims to make the door unable to be opened by intruders.

Most parents are in support of the the Barracuda Intruder Defense System, but getting approval from state fire departments is another issue. Most building codes state that all doors need to be easily opened. Therefore, the Barracuda Intruder Defense System could not be installed at all times.

Do you think these devices would add an extra layer of security in our Magic Valley schools, or would they cause more harm than good?
