Why is This City Called the Most Miserable in California?
Regardless of where you live, if you are unhappy, having happy people around you won’t help. People who are perfectly happy gathered in one place may be heaven, but it might be Stepford.
The City of Huntington Park is self-proclaimed as The City of Perfect Balance. But it is unclear as to what is being balanced within it. It is reasonably close to the beach on a good traffic day if you pack snacks. There are an average of 286 sunny days per year. It has the highest percentage of overweight children in California, so the kids are eating well.
What Makes Huntington Park Such a Miserable City?
According to Our Health Depot, Huntington Park is considered the Most Miserable City in the State of California. Notable facts as to how Huntington Park has gained this honor is over 21% of the people living there live below the poverty level. Getting beyond that poverty level is going to be tough since the unemployment rate is 45% higher than the national average. The median household income is $46,000. This may seem like it is fine, but living in California, that will rent a 450 sq ft studio apartment that gets shared with a roommate and their yappy chihuahua, ramen noodles every night, bicycling to work every day, and no romantic prospects.
If you put Huntington Park up against miserable cities in other states, this city gets the #8 slot. If you’re going to be known for something, you might as well be the best at it. They couldn’t even do that. Although being more miserable than the most miserable cities in 42 other states is pretty good, with hard work Huntington Park could make it to #1, and have the notoriety they have worked so hard to achieve.
