3 Cartoon Sidekicks We Loved To Hate

I don’t care how old I get, I’ve always loved cartoons.  I watched them when I was a kid and to this day, when I’m flipping through the channels, I’ll stop for while if I land on Justice League or SpongeBob.

The other day I caught an old episode of He-Man and I was reminded of the characters we loved to hate.

No matter how much I loved a cartoon; there was always that one character that grated on your nerves.

Here are a few that I remember. (Fondly.)

SNARF:

Remember Snarf from Thundercats?  He was sort of Lion-O’s nanny / babysitter / best buddy.

His worst trait was his attitude.  He was always worried about whether or not the world was going to end and that everyone was going to die.  He was extremely phobic and I wouldn’t be surprised that he suffered from some form of depression.

What made him the most annoying that he was always running around yelling “Snarf!” all the time.  Why does a TALKING animal need to make such a sound?  Use your words, dammit!

On the plus side, he was always cooking for the rest of the cats.

Think of Snarf as the love child of your favorite aunt and Debbie Downer.

UNI THE UNICORN

Uni was the adopted pet of Bobby, the Barbarian on Dungeons and Dragons. She was always getting stuck, knocking stuff over and just all around getting everyone else into trouble.

Sure, she was an adorable, baby unicorn.  But when you’re in an alternate dimension being hunted by demons and a bad-ass with one horn coming out of his head, you’re only as strong as your weakest link.  Sorry Uni.  We’re going to have to put you down.

ORKO

Orko:  Court jester/wizard on He Man Maters of the Universe.

You want to know what it’s like to have two jobs and suck at both of them?  Watch an old episode of He-Man and check out Orko.  Not only were his jokes stupid, (I didn’t even find him funny when I was 9.) he couldn’t cast a spell to save his live.
