Twin Falls Sheriff Warns of Scam Targeting Doctors
TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KLIX) The Twin Falls County Sheriff's Office says a recent scam is targeting area doctors. Recently four separate doctors officers informed the sheriff's office that someone had called claiming the sheriff, Tom Carter, is looking for the doctor because he has a warrant for their arrest for failing to show up for jury duty. The scammer then tries to get personal information like a social security number and other identifying information. The sheriff's office says the calls are coming from a 208-451-8585 number. Numerous law enforcement agencies have warned citizens before to never give out personal information over the phone to someone who calls you asking for it. Plus, police will never inform people of warrants over the phone. .
