Owning a business is something many strive to do one day. To be your own boss, make your own hours, and do something you love to do is a goal that sadly doesn't come to be for far too many in this country. Most will never try to start their own business, some will try and fail terribly, and a few will succeed. There are many factors that play into having a successful business. It depends on what you are trying to sell, who your customers are, and location can play a factor as well. When it comes to starting a new business, which states are the best to do so, which are the worst, and is Idaho a good state to start your own business?

If you are looking to start your own business, which state would you give the best chance to succeed, and which states should you avoid doing so? A recent study came out on WalletHub ranking the best and worst states to start a business. They use categories such as business environment, access to resources, and business costs to help rank the states. Using these criteria, it was determined that Florida is the best state to start a business, with Utah being second, and Texas being third. The worst state to start a business in is Rhode Island, with Maryland being the second worst, and Hawaii rounding out the bottom three. So how does Idaho compare to the other states?

It's not a secret that many companies, businesses, retail stores, and food chains have begun popping up in Idaho recently and spreading throughout the state. That is likely because Idaho is the fifth-best state in the country to start a business, according to the study. Idaho ranks 17th in business environment, 13th in access to resources, and ninth in business costs. Idaho also has seen the highest average growth of small businesses in the entire country, further proving that the state is growing, not only with large companies, but locally as well. For those wondering about starting a business and expanding into Utah, since it is close by and ranks as the second-best state, Utah is also the state with the fewest hours worked per week in the country.
