Seven Big-Ticket Items You Can Get Good Deals on This Month

If you've got a little extra money this month, we've got a list of some things you might want to spend it on.  Here are seven big-ticket items you can get good deals on in September.

1.)  Mattresses.  Right now is when mattress stores start trying to get rid of old inventory.  The deals started over Labor Day weekend, and they'll continue at least through the rest of the month.

 2.)  Flights for Thanksgiving.  According to Lifehacker.com, you get the best deal if you buy tickets eight weeks ahead of time.  It's still too early to buy a ticket home for Christmas.  But Thanksgiving is only 11 weeks away, so the end of this month is when you should start looking.

 3.)  Cars.  According to Cheapism.com, September is the best month to buy a new car, as long as you're not looking for a brand new 2013 model.  Right now, dealers have to get rid of the 2012 models, so they have room to bring in the new ones. 

4.)  Bicycles.  September is when the new models come out.  So just like with cars, the prices on older bikes get slashed.   

5.)  Major Appliances.  Like washers, dryers, and refrigerators.  Again, the new models are about to come out, so they have to get rid of the old ones.
