It is always exciting to see new buildings pop up in town and to wonder what is inside. There seems to be constant construction and stores opening in Twin Falls, that at times can be easy to miss, and recently a new store opened in the area that you may not be aware of. While this store offers some amazing products and makes for great browsing and shopping, the purpose and the story behind the place is what will take your breath away and is what the store is all about.

A new store opened in Twin Falls on March 3, located on Pole Line at 1881 Pole Line Road East and it is called Jae's Place. The building can be a little hidden, and you may not know what is inside. The store is filled with Western apparel, with boots, coats, shirts, hats, and even fishing supplies. You will feel like you entered another world when you enter. There are plenty of cowboys and cowgirls in the area, meaning the store should thrive, but there is more than meets the eye at Jae's Place. For those looking to shop and browse, you won't be disappointed, but for those that get to find out the true story, your life will be changed.

The Jae Foundation started as an idea in 2017 and has escalated over the last few years. The foundation was started to help support those that struggle with mental health and suicidal thoughts. It was started by Jason and Paige Vickrey after Jason's childhood and lifelong friend Jae took his life in March of 2016. The story of Jae is a heartbreaking one, and one that deserves to be told, but heard from by those at Jae's Place. I recently was told Jae's story, and it will take you on an emotional roller coaster. I will leave it to the experts at Jae's Place to tell that story, so I do not ruin it in any way.

The people of Jae's Place are not counselors or therapists, but they are open ears and people with caring hearts for those that have dealt with loss, mental health, suicidal thoughts, or grief of any kind. They are available to the community if you need them and do so in a unique way. One thing about Jae was that he always wore cowboy boots. It didn't matter the outfit, pajamas, sweats, shorts, jeans, or business attire, he loved his boots. It is because of this and many more heartfelt stories, that is why Jae's Place believes in helping those that need something to grab onto, and a simple act of giving someone a pair of Jae Boots goes a long way. There are rules to getting these boots. You must feel confident, you must feel tall, you must wear them, and you must do a boot check. It is the power of the boot, and it will give you hope, confidence, and give you a different outlook on life.

For those wondering how Jae's Place can afford to giveaway boots, it is all through donation and charity. Jason and Paige started with $100 in a bank account, and last year held their first fundraiser, where they were able to raise $1.2 million. This money went to help them build Jae's Place, as well as the boots and apparel you see in the store. Just last month they held their second fundraiser, not knowing what to expect and they surpassed their previous amount, bringing in $1.35 million. It is because of those that also want to fight mental health and suicide that Jae's Place works. All the proceeds from the store go back into buying more boots to help those that struggle.

If you are struggling with mental health, or suicidal thoughts, feel alone, unheard, unloved, are grieving a loss, or have survivor's guilt, make sure to reach out to Jae's Place or to stop by. When I set up my interview with them, I was expecting to write a story about the new store, but what I got was so much more. I was blessed with an experience that I wasn't aware that I needed. Make sure to stop by Jae's Place to see what all they have in store, but also to seek support and love if you need it. Their team is fantastic, their store has amazing apparel, and if you go through the journey of learning about Jae's Place, hopefully, it will impact you as it did me.
