A Major Concern to Watch Out For in the Gem State This Summer
It's an exciting time when the kids are out of school, the weather is warm, and there's much to do around the Gem State. Weekends are spent doing yard work, traveling, camping, hiking, kayaking, boating, baseball, and lounging by the pool. It truly is one of the best times of the year to be in Idaho, but with summer comes concerns, worries, and dangers to be aware of, especially if you are a parent. Make sure to keep your eyes open and stay alert to help avoid any danger and concerns that are waiting to happen this summer in Idaho that could alter your life and family.
Biggest Concerns in Idaho this Summer
With no school, kids are looking for ways to entertain themselves. In a town where many claim, 'there is nothing to do,' children will look for bizarre and crazy things to do for fun and entertainment. Because of this, they can find themselves in danger at times because they are trying to impress their friends, get a thrill, and at times think they are invincible. This often can lead to doing dumb things behind the wheel for kids that are older enough to drive, it can lead to kids jumping off of things they shouldn't, or being places they shouldn't. It is important to make sure your kids are being smart and safe, and while all these are a concern, none of them are the biggest concern.
Little Kids Drowning in Idaho
While it is scary when kids fall and break a leg, hit their head, or break an arm, most of those are injuries that will heal, but the biggest concern and fear for any parent, especially one with little kids is the fear of drowning. Many in Idaho own pools they put up and take down each summer, while others prefer to spend time at the lake or on the river. While a life vest is required for little kids when on a kayak or boat in Idaho, it doesn't mean the fear of them falling over and going under goes away. Especially when it comes to pools and swimming in any body of water, it is important to keep an eye on your children at all times and not leave them unattended, even for a second.

Everyone wants to have fun and a family day in the pool, at the lake, or on the river, but if something happens to a child who is unable to swim, the fun can end quickly and alter a family forever. Put the phone away and give your children all your attention this summer, especially when near water.
