Downtown Business Closes Its Doors for Good in Twin Falls
UPDATE: Surprise! Apparently The Cookie Basket closed in July, but many didn't notice. It happened so quietly that Google didn't even recognize it until recently. It was recommended to my family and I by multiple coworkers and neighbors. It was then we discovered it was closed, which was also news to all of them.
Growing up, we often have certain stores we go to and learn to recognize in our community. You either drive by them and know them by sight, hear people talk about them, or perhaps you visit them frequently. It is sad when one day you drive by, go to the store or hear from people that the store is closed permanently. Since the pandemic, stores all across America have been closing due to lack of workers, lack of revenue, or being unable to get the supplies they need. One store that has been in Twin Falls for years recently shut its doors for good and I for one am sad about it.
The Cookie Basket Closed Permanently
The Cookie Basket in downtown Twin Falls on Main Street has closed its doors permanently. They have been in Twin Falls for years and have made cakes for many residents' birthdays, weddings, and special occasions. I was unfortunate to not have made it in before their doors closed, but was planning on going in this week to buy cookies for the family. Their pictures look delicious and they had some of the most creative cakes I had ever seen. The building will continue to be occupied by Fox Floral, but cookies and cakes will no longer be available for purchase.
Another Twin Falls Business Gone
In just a few months since I moved here, there has been a handful of local businesses closed for good. Every place has closed for its reasons but it is becoming almost a weekly occurrence around here. There have been far too many stories about places closing, and while some can't be prevented, some of these places have closed due to a lack of help. There are a ton of places in need of help and nobody is applying.
Where to Get Good Cookies and Cakes in Twin Falls
With the Cookie Basket closed, it begs the question, where do you go now for delicious cookies, cakes, and pastries? There are multiple options all over town. If you want a full list of places to check out there is a list of best places for sweet treats in the area. Crumbl cookies are fantastic for delicious cookies, as well as Kiwi Loco. Sweet T's offers great options for cupcakes in the area as a replacement as well.
While it is sad to see Cookie Basket close, there are at least alternatives to fill the gap. In a time like this, it is best to find a place to stuff your face with a cookie or cupcake to help you feel better. Our tummies will move on, but as of today, Twin Falls is a little sadder and a little less full of delicious sweets.
