Recent data suggests that migration to Idaho from states such as Oregon and California might be slowing somewhat. I'm sure most Idahoans would be thrilled to find out this "survey" is accurate.

Now, this doesn't mean Westerners aren't still buying up Gem State property and reselling it for a pretty penny 24 months later. Having bought and sold property in Idaho, I am well-versed with the formula many people from the West have adopted as their own to make quick money in the Gem State; I get why locals are fed up with it.

Recent relocation trends from the website Journal of Consumer Affairs have suggested that fewer people are choosing Idaho as a retirement destination. In fact, the JCA has Idaho at number eight in the nation for migration trends, which is quite the pivot from a decade ago.

The Journal Of Consumer Affairs Has Compiled Data That Implies Idaho Is No Longer A Top U.S. State For Migration Home Buying

According to the JCA, North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, Texas, Georgia, and Michigan are the top states Americans are choosing to flock to. Personally, I'm skeptical about the states that aren't Texas and Florida, but I haven't conducted a study of my own; I doubt I could gather a sample size large enough to produce believable results.

On the flip side, elevateidaho.com is making the argument that affordable housing, career opportunities, adventure and comfort, a sense of community, and future investments are the reasons many are still moving to Twin Falls County.

I'd agree with most of that, and also add the fact that Twin Falls County's location on the map has something to do with this reported trend. Seattle, Las Vegas, Salt Lake City, Sacramento, and San Diego are all within a day's drive from the Magic Valley.
