
Civilian Driver Injured in Accident During Idaho State Police High Speed Chase
A high-speed chase in Southern Idaho over the weekend ended in a crash between an ISP car and a civilian vehicle.
Troopers were attempting to stop a suspect in a vehicle believed to be associated with a felony warrant.
Idaho State Police Involved in Accident During High Speed Chase
The incident happened on Friday evening in Idaho Falls. An Idaho State Police trooper attempted to stop a vehicle around 10 PM. The driver of the vehicle, believed to be associated with a felony warrant, refused to stop and fled ‘at a high rate of speed’ according to the ISP Report.
Attempts were made to stop the fleeing vehicle with spike strips, but those attempts were unsuccessful. During the pursuit, an ISP vehicle was involved in a collision with a civilian vehicle at the intersection of Yellowstone Highway and Pancheri Drive. The report does not specify where the initial traffic stop happened.

Video of the crash can be seen below. The officer was treated and released at the scene of the crash, and the civilian driver was taken to a local hospital.

ISP released the news on May 10th, and at the time, the suspect was not apprehended and was still at large.
Along with video of the crash, KIFI Local News 8 gave an update on the accident. They say the suspect was 40-year-old Lucas James, who was later taken into custody and charged with multiple felony and misdemeanor charges.
The charges against James include Felony Eluding, Felony Possession of a Controlled Substance, 3 counts of Felon in Possession of a Firearm, and a misdemeanor charge of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. The Idaho Falls Police Department posted information on the arrest and charges on Saturday evening at 7:09.
