Not everything you read on the internet is true and if something seems too good to be true it probably is are sayings we hear often. The problem is knowing how to find out if something is true or too good to be true. There’s a promotion going wild on social media right now that is causing some confusion. The promotion looks real but definitely seems too good to be true.

Is Texas Roadhouse Really Giving Free Meals to People in Idaho?

You can find the deal on Facebook if you go to the Outback Steakhouse Fans page. They claim that Outback Steakhouse will give you 2 free meals, out of the goodness of their hearts, if you comment on the post and then give them some personal information.

If you’ve taken any sort of online safety training, you probably already see a few red flags with that deal.

The fact that the deal isn’t coming from the official Texas Roadhouse page should cause some concern. The second red flag is that the free meal requires you to give them personal info. Another red flag that you’ll only see if you go to their page (you shouldn’t which is why we aren’t posting the link) is that the page was recently made and only has the one post about the free meals.

No, Texas Roadhouse in Idaho Will Not Give You Free Meals

If you haven’t figured it out already, the free meals deal is a scam to get your personal information. When asked about the promotion by super-sleuth Doug Maughan, the real Texas Roadhouse responded:

There are scams circulating on Facebook and online offering Texas Roadhouse meal vouchers, other benefits, and as well as our Butcher Shop hand-cut steaks. These accounts are attempting to gain access to personal information. If you have provided any payment information we would recommend contacting your bank immediately.
Texas Roadhouse posts will be sent from our page, which is facebook.com/texasroadhouse and has the blue verified check mark next to our name. As for our hand-cut steaks, please only use our verified website https://trbutchershop.com/ and Amazon.
