Either this has been happening more often than it used to, or I’m just really bad at paying attention.

Stores have been announcing closures on specific days that haven’t normally been ‘day off’ holidays for grocery stores. But it also makes sense. Kind of. These closures coincide with days that government workers, schools, and many other businesses have off.

So why not? Well, because people like me don’t pay attention, even to some holidays, so when that day arrives and I’m not prepared with proper food, I need a grocery store to be open.

What Popular Store Will Close All Stores in Washington, Utah, and Idaho For One Day This Month?

This month, we’ll be celebrating Memorial Day. It’s not going to sneak up on us since we know it is always the last Monday of May. That’s the 26th this year. Or maybe it will still sneak up on us, like Easter did…which was also the last day this store closed all its locations for a holiday.

The store, Costco, gives its workers 7 days off every year. Easter was the last one, and Memorial Day is the next one. Get ready, because they'll all close again on the 4th of July.

On the Costco website, they state that all their US warehouses are closed on these dates:

  • New Year’s Day
  • Easter Sunday
  • Memorial Day
  • Independence Day
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving
  • Christmas

That means you’ll have to plan ahead if you want Costco buns and hamburgers at your Memorial Day BBQ.
