Important USPS Changes Started This Week in ID, WA, and UT
Everyone gets and sends mail, and it seems everyone has an opinion about the mail service these days. When it arrives on time and you receive everything you are expecting they are great, but the moment something is late, they are terrible and the worst. The United States Postal Service, also known as the USPS, has been making changes lately, and some like them and others don't. There are major changes that took place earlier this year, and earlier this week another change took place with the USPS that you may not be aware of.
USPS Makes Important Change in Idaho, Washington, and Utah
The USPS has made a change that will affect how you send letters and mail going forward. As of Sunday, July 13, the cost of the forever stamp has increased. Previously, the cost of a forever stamp for a letter was 73 cents, and it has now jumped up to 78 cents. Domestic postcards have jumped from 56 cents to 61 cents, with international postcards and letters having jumped from $1.65 to $1.70. A five-cent increase may not sound like much, but it is a whopping 7.4 percent increase. The only positive about the change is that postal insurance has decreased by 12 percent.
Changes with USPS in Idaho, Washington, and Utah
Stamp costs are not the only changes that have taken place recently when it comes to the USPS, as another major change happened earlier this year on April 1. At that time, a change took place that was referenced as 'refining service standards' and affected how mail would be delivered. This was to guarantee a more reliable service as some packages would arrive quicker, and others would be delayed a bit, but it would benefit from receiving the right mail and packages. Because it is the forever stamp that increased in price, do not fret, as you can use them until they are gone. That is the luxury of a forever stamp. Once they are gone, you will have to pay a little more to replenish those stamps. While it may seem like another thing going up in cost, it is all part of a 10-year plan to help improve the USPS moving forward by upgrading facilities, equipment, and vehicles.
