Where you raise a family is important, as it determines who your children are friends with, the cost of living, what church you attend, how to spend your free time, and ultimately who you and your family will become. When it comes to raising a family, are Idaho and Washington good places, or should you look at living elsewhere?
The Best and Worst Cities For Raising a Family
For any parent, the thought of raising your child in a bad place is a concern. You want to give them the best opportunities to thrive in life. You want them to receive the best education, get proper training in sports, and be the best version of themselves. Recently, WalletHub released a list ranking the best cities to raise a family in and did so by using categories such as family fun, health and safety, education and child care, affordability, and socioeconomics. By using these criteria, it was determined that Fremont, California is the best city to raise a family in, with Overland Park, Kansas being second, and Plano, Texas rounding out the top three. Out of 182 ranked cities, Memphis, Tennessee is the worst city to raise a family, with Detroit, Michigan being the second worst, and Cleveland, Ohio rounding out the bottom three.
Are Washington and Idaho Good Places to Raise a Family?
When it comes to Idaho and Washington, two cities made the top ten, with one city from each state making it. Seattle, Washington is ranked the sixth best city for raising a family, and Boise, Idaho is right behind them coming in at number seven. Seattle is 71 in family fun, 93 in health and safety, 11 in education and child care, 7 in affordability, and 14 in socioeconomics. Boise is 18 in family fun, 26 in health and safety, 30 in education and child care, 28 in affordability, and 18 in socioeconomics. It may surprise some to see Seattle is better ranked in affordability, but with many people moving to Boise over the last few years, it has raised the housing market.
