It is a part of the American dream. We all want to make money, live comfortably, and one day own a home. Not everyone can afford to buy a house, and many of us will pay rent for years and live in apartments, rental homes, or perhaps with our parents long after we thought we would. Getting enough money saved up to buy your first house takes time, and it takes plenty of budgeting and saving. For some, that day finally arrives when you have enough in your bank account and the time is right, that you finally buy your first home, but where you buy it is a big factor in how safe you will feel, how much you will enjoy it, and how valuable your investment is. When it comes to buying your first home, where is the best city in the country to do so, where is the worst, and how do cities in Idaho compare?

Where your new home is located can dictate how much you can sell it for in the future and how much you will enjoy living there. WalletHub recently released a list of the best and worst cities to buy your first home in the country and used a few categories to determine this, such as affordability, the real-estate market, and quality of life. Using these criteria it was determined that Palm Bay, Florida is the best city to buy your first home, with Cape Coral, Florida being second, and Tampa, Florida being third. Out of a possible 300 cities, it was determined that Berkeley, California is the worst city to buy your first home, with Santa Monica, California being the second worst, and Anchorage, Alaska rounding out the bottom three.
