Solicitors and scammers are getting savvier these days. There's a new scam that uses your relatives to tug at your heartstrings and your wallet that you need to be aware of.

According to the Bonneville County Sheriffs Office, the scammers pretend to be a grandchild or relative and then they convince the victim that they are in jail and need to be bailed out. The scam is so sophisticated that the Caller ID will actually come up as being from the Bonneville County Jail (208) 529-1315.

According to idahonews.com, the scammers will typically ask for a credit card or money cards to transfer money from their personal accounts to pay off bonds, fines, or for their loved ones to avoid arrest.

Law enforcement and local courts assure they will never ever ask for money in this way and it's a tell-tale sign of a scam.

Please be aware and report it to local authorities if you think you have been a victim of this scam.
