Driving should be a simple task. It is something many do each day. People drive to go to work, drop their kids off, run errands, and get around town or travel. For whatever reason, many make it difficult, despite how simple it should be. As long as you keep your eyes on the road and obey the rules of the road, there should be no problem, but unfortunately, far too many know that rarely is it that simple. Drivers text and drive, they look for things through their car, and they don't do simple tasks that put other drivers at risk. It appears that Idaho drivers are allergic to doing one simple driving task, and it is causing road rage and putting other drivers at risk.

Using a Blinker in Idaho

It may seem simple and obvious, but using a blinker is for the safety of the driver and other drivers. It allows everyone to know what is happening, alerts other drivers to tap their brakes, to slow down, and to be patient. When someone turns and doesn't use a blinker, it puts others at risk. It raises confusion, it can lead to a fender bender, and it can lead to road rage. It is baffling how many drivers in the Gem State decide not to use their blinkers, when it is a simple flick of a finger, yet they decide not to use them out of laziness, selfishness, or because perhaps they are allergic to using one. It isn't only when turning off the main road, though, as other ways not using it can put others at risk.

Idaho Drivers Are Allergic to Blinkers

While slowing down and turning without a blinker is frustrating for the drivers behind the one not using their blinker, there are other situations far worse. When switching lanes, using a blinker is of the utmost importance, but for some reason, far too many drivers decide to change lanes without alerting other drivers of their intentions. This puts them and others at risk. When turning at an intersection, it may seem obvious when in a turn-only lane, but for pedestrians walking, that blinker signals to them that they should wait and let the vehicle go first, or if they are good to walk, run, or ride their bicycle across. Why drivers can't turn their blinkers on remains a mystery.

As you drive to and from work, picking your kids up from school, running errands, or wherever you are going, make sure to take that second and flip your blinker on to alert other drivers when you are switching lanes, turning off the road, and let them know your intentions, so that everyone can adjust accordingly. The road is already a dangerous place; don't make it worse by not using your blinker.
