
Expect Magic Valley ID Air Quality To Improve From Smoke Soon
Due to several fires burning in the southwestern corner of Idaho and into Oregon, Magic Valley residents have been experiencing some of the worst air quality in the United States over the past week. The air is about to get much better heading into next week, according to the forecast.
July was a brutal month for state fire personnel in Idaho. A cluster of wildland fires scorched over 300,000 acres in the southwestern portion of the state alone during the final days of the month, including one that contributed heavily to the poor air quality in the region identified as the Big Grass Fire on the Idaho - Oregon border.
Following multiple days of extreme heat forecasted for July 31 and August 1, wind gusts are expected to blow through southern Idaho for a period of over 24 hours, which will help push smoke out.

Contributing to the lingering smoke in Twin Falls this week has been the surprising lack of wind. That will change on August 2 as the region will experience wind gusts that should continue through Tuesday (August 4), according to Weather Underground.

The air quality is still going to be very poor through the weekend, and people with lung and heart issues--as well as young children--should limit exposure to the outdoors until conditions improve.
