How often do 4 seemingly unrelated things come together in a vortex of awesome? Maybe once in a lifetime. This may be it. The Hagerman Booster Club has an answer for just about anyone with a need to do something on May 5th and 6th.

While some may find hunting them disagreeable, rock chucks can damage canal banks, dig dangerous holes in pastures, and chew through a garden in no time. Enter the Rock Chuck Derby. The Hagerman Booster Club is hosting the 3rd Annual Rock Chuck Derby on May 5th and 6th. There are different individual categories by age bracket as well as team categories. With the Rock Chuck Derby, the classic fundraiser activities are to be found: live music, a silent auction, dinner, and prizes. But wait, there’s more.

What Are the Rock Chuck Derby Activities This Year?

Not everyone wants to shoot rock chucks. I know it’s a strange idea, but there are people out there that want to support the Hagerman Booster Club without shooting marmots. A 3-on-3 basketball tournament is going to be held in conjunction with the derby. 5th graders to adults can enjoy some hoops with 5 different age groups at the Hagerman Price Memorial Gym and the Junior High Gym.

Perhaps a pickleball tournament is more your style. Okay, they’ve got that too. On the 5th, $20 per person nets you a kids tourney, adult rec, and competitive brackets in the Hagerman old gym.

Not up for those activities? Fine! There’s a poker run on the 6th. Start at the Hagerman Library with stops in Bliss, Gooding, Wendell, and West Point, and end at Fire Pie Pizza. $40 per hand includes dinner.

If only there were a squirrel derby. Dare to dream.
