The 2026 Lost N Lava Cowboy Gathering came to an end Sunday morning as attendees drove their travel trailers and vehicles out of the Lincoln County Community Center and Fairgrounds in Shoshone after another successful, two-day celebration of the western cowboy and ranching cultures.

I spent a good part of my weekend at the 16th annual event, which I attended with my wife and son. The highlight was Saturday evening's shows headlined by Utah musician Brenn Hill, who played a long set after repeated requests for an encore by audience members. Hill stayed more than an hour after his set ended around 10 P.M to sign CDs and other merchandise for fans.

Lost N Lava's MC Tony Argento performed a very moving tribute to firefighters Saturday evening as well, and acknowledged those lost during the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks in Pennsylvania and New York, now 25 years after the hijackings and destruction of the Twin Towers that cost nearly 3,000 people their lives.

Other memorable performances were turned in by Buddy DeVore, Beth Millick, Jonny & Jen, Thatch Elmer, and others. The weather stayed dry for the event which featured an outdoor vendor market and live music inside the center located in the middle of the grounds.

President Chris Dixon, Alison Gittins, Tony Argento, Poppa Mac and the group of volunteers at Lost N Lava executed another fun gathering, which also included an auction, food vendors, and cowboy poetry.

We were honored to have attended for our second straight year and will be back in 2027.
