Fatal Crash Near Sandpoint Under Investigation by ISP

SANDPOINT, Idaho – Idaho State Police are looking into a deadly crash that happened near Sandpoint, likely late Saturday night or early Sunday morning.

Car Left The Highway at High Speeds Into an Adjacent Pond

According to ISP, a 43-year-old woman was driving west on Colburn Culver Road at a high speed. When she reached the intersection with US-95, instead of stopping, her vehicle crossed the highway, went off the road, and ended up in a nearby pond.

Driver Did Not Survive

The driver was wearing a seatbelt but sadly, did not survive the crash. Authorities believe alcohol may have played a role in the incident.

Road Conditions and Next Steps

US-95 was open to traffic while investigators worked the scene. The Bonner County Coroner’s Office is notifying the woman’s family.

Idaho State Police are continuing their investigation into what led to the crash.
