The Best City in Idaho to Enjoy the Thanksgiving Holiday

The holiday season is getting ready to get into full swing, and Thanksgiving is right around the corner. Many will be preparing what dish to make, who is coming, where they are going, and perhaps game planning for the shopping the next day. While so many people focus on Christmas already, Thanksgiving is often forgotten, but it is one of the best days of the year. There is the parade, football, food, family, and naps. It is a day many look forward to, but when it comes to where to spend the holiday, where is the best place to spend Thanksgiving, where is the worst, and is Idaho a great place to chow down on some turkey?

The Best and Worst Places for Thanksgiving

Certain places make holidays better, and Thanksgiving is no exception. WalletHub recently released a list of the best cities to enjoy Thanksgiving and ranked them using categories such as celebrations and traditions, affordability, safety and accessibility, and giving thanks. Using these criteria, it was determined that San Francisco is the best place to spend Thanksgiving in the country, with San Jose being second, and San Diego rounding out the top three. Out of a possible 100 cities, the worst place to spend Thanksgiving is Stockton, California, with Hialeah, Florida being second, and Newark, New Jersey being third. 

Is Idaho a Great Place to Spend Thanksgiving? 

One city in Idaho made the list of best places to spend Thanksgiving, and not surprisingly, that place is Boise. Boise comes in on the list at 40. They rank 39 in celebrations and traditions, 67 in affordability, 2 in safety and accessibility, and 66 in giving thanks. While more a part of the season than the holiday, Boise also ranks tied for number one in the country in terms of pumpkin patches per capita. While it may not be one of the best cities to enjoy the holiday, for many in the area it is where their family is, and that is one of the biggest factors that is not accounted for on this list.

Despite the list above, it comes down to where your family is and enjoying time and a meal with them. Going to New York for the parade would be great, but missing out on a traditional meal would be a hard sacrifice. Going to sit on a beach would be lovely, but wouldn't feel like Thanksgiving. No matter where you spend the holiday this year, eat lots of food and reflect on the things that you are thankful for.
