Dolly Parton's 2019 MusiCares Person of the Year acceptance speech was everything that country fans have come to expect from the iconic artist: humorous, sentimental and humble. Readers can press play above to watch Parton's full remarks, delivered during a gala on Friday night (Feb. 8) in Los Angeles.

"I truly am honored," Parton began, before firing off a series of jokes: "I truly can feel the love in this house tonight ... Either that, or my telephone's on vibrate."

The MusiCares Person of the Year award recognizes Parton's charitable efforts throughout her lengthy, lauded career; she is the first country artist to earn the honor. As she said during her speech, "I have been in music for a long time, but it has been in me a lot longer."

"I used to stand out on the porch ... and pretend like I was singin' on the Grand Ole Opry," Parton recalled. "But it was my dream ... It has been a wonderful journey."

Kacey Musgraves, Willie Nelson, Little Big Town and many more big names, from both country and other genres, performed Parton's greatest hits during the Friday night event. Katy Perry, Yolanda Adams and Parton's goddaughter Miley Cyrus were also among the list of performers.

"Watchin' them is sort of like watchin' porn ... You're not personally involved, but you still get off on it!" Parton joked. "I really got off on this show tonight!"

Perhaps the sweetest moment of the night was a surprise to Parton: She was reunited with her Trio bandmates, Emmylou Harris and Linda Ronstadt, who presented Parton with her Person of the Year trophy. Ronstadt has remained largely out of the public eye since being diagnosed with Parkinson's disease years ago.

On Sunday night (Feb. 10), Parton will be honored at the Grammy Awards with another star-studded tribute performance. Little Big Town, Musgraves, Maren Morris and Katy Perry have been confirmed as performers for the big moment, though several other artists, including Cyrus, have teased their involvement as well. Parton, too, will be part of the tribute; it will be her first Grammy Awards performance since 2001.
