Are the Boy Scouts Criminals?
A sheriff in northern Idaho near Sandpoint is ending his department's charter with a Boy Scouts troop after the organization lifted its ban on gay members.
Sheriff Ben Wolfinger of Kootenai County says it's due to the Boy Scouts promoting a lifestyle that violated Idaho's "crimes against nature" statute, which prohibits sodomy.
Wolfinger cites his Christian faith as a motivator in his decision.
However, the troop will not be dissolved or stop meeting. Tim McCandless, CEO of the Boy Scouts of America-Inland Northwest Council, says Northwest Backcountry Rescue is now officially chartering the troop.
What do you think -- are the Boy Scouts violating Idaho law?
