Americans Would Be More Embarrassed to Be Caught Littering Than Cheating On Their Taxes
Here's a little something to think about while you're getting your taxes ready . . . and having that ethical debate of whether you should count your dog, cat, and toaster as dependents. If you get caught cheating, you'll be humiliated.
But . . . according to a new survey from Forbes, there are definitely things that would humiliate you more . . .
73% of Americans say they'd be very embarrassed if they got caught shoplifting.
65% would be very embarrassed if they got a DUI.
59% would be very embarrassed if they got caught littering.
And then, 57% would be very embarrassed if they got caught cheating on their taxes.
So it's only the fourth-most embarrassing possibility in the survey behind shoplifting, drunk driving, and littering.
It did beat out a few things. 36% said they'd be very embarrassed if people found out they smoke cigarettes, and 32% would be very embarrassed if people found out they don't wear a seatbelt.
