700 MPH Hyperloop Train Could Be Coming to Pacific Northwest and Nevada
Have you heard of the Hyperloop? This is a 700 mph train on steroids in a tube that could soon be coming to the Pacific Northwest and parts of Nevada.
I saw this story on the Denver Post website. They were covering it because there are 3 Colorado locations that also made the finalist list.
If you're wondering what the heck a Hyperloop is, here's the Wikipedia definition:
Hyperloop is a proposed mode of passenger and freight transportation that would propel a pod-like vehicle through a reduced-pressure tube[1] that would exceed airliner speed.
This gets interesting for us due to 2 proposed routes that are relatively close to our part of America. One is in the Pacific Northwest and the other in Nevada.
PNY Northwest - Seattle to Portland
Hyperloop Nevada
At 700 mph, a trip that would have taken several hours would be possible in minutes. Excuse me while I pick my jaw up off the floor.
There are some potential downfalls - literally. It would be very bad to be on a Hyperloop train during an earthquake since anything other than a straight line would be unhealthy at 700 mph, according to the Wikipedia page.
According to the Denver Post article, 3 sites will be chosen for the first Hyperloop trains. Now, the question is whether one of them is in our neck of the woods.
