BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Developers will likely break ground next year on the first phase of a 2,000-home project in southwest Boise.

The Idaho Statesman reports that developer Michael Coughlin plans to build 453 homes on 101 acres in the first phase. City of Boise planner Todd Tucker said Tuesday that the entire development, called Syringa Valley, is expected to include 2,000 homes on 601 acres, as well as a high school, elementary school, city park and two commercial areas.

The development is expected to unfold over the next 20 years. The Boise Planning and Zoning Commission is scheduled to consider Syringa Valley on Jan. 4.
