What is the Most Important Thing to Do Before You Have Guests? [POLL]

Over the weekend we had surprise house guests, which was exciting and a little nerve racking because our house wasn't exactly ready for guests. I found myself shoving last minute items into my dresser and wash machine so that the house didn't look messy.

It got to the point were I actually put a dead plant in my dresser drawer to avoid leaving it out for guests to see. We all have things that we like to keep private and sometimes the things we want to keep private are odd. I don't like to leave garbage cans in the office or kids rooms out. I always put them in the closet when we have guests...which is a little odd.
