PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS
A Flood Advisory means that flooding or ponding of water is occurring or is imminent in urban areas, fields, small streams, or other drainage areas.
Threat of Localized Flooding Due to Rain and Snow-melt Will Continue This Week.
Localized minor flooding will remain possible across low elevations where significant amounts of snow are on the ground. Colder air will temporarily halt the snow-melt on Tuesday, but milder air will return Wednesday and Thursday ahead of another storm system.
Snow levels are expected to rise to 7000 to 8000 feet Wednesday night and Thursday resulting in rainfall for most locations. Precipitation during this period will be focused across northern areas, especially the Upper Weiser River Basin, West Central Mountains, and Boise Mountains. Precipitation amounts of 1.00 to 1.50 inches is generally expected in these areas Wednesday night through Thursday, with locally higher amounts possible.
Runoff from rain and snow-melt may cause flooding of some small streams, fields, and poor drainage areas. City streets may be impacted, especially where street gutters and storm water drains are clogged with snow and ice. Low-lying county roads may be
affected, and homes with poor drainage around the foundation may be at risk for basement flooding.
Mainstem river flooding is not expected at this time, but significant rises are expected on some rivers, such as the Weiser River and lower reaches of the Payette River.
