The holiday season is getting near the end as Christmas is less than a week away. For many, this is saddening news as it means their favorite time of year is ending, but for others, this is great news, as stores will become less crowded, traffic will be better, and Christmas music will finally stop playing in stores. The holiday season can be a fun time, but it appears to bring out the stupidity in many people and can make life tough day-to-day in the Magic Valley. What is it about the holiday that makes people act this way and what exactly is it that they are doing?

During the holidays, you often find people in stores they don't typically shop at. They are looking for gifts for people that they don't always buy for and it can often put people in uncomfortable situations. The season also brings out more people than usual and at times they may typically not be shopping. More people and unfamiliar stores can cause confusion and stupid acts to follow. These shoppers are often taking their time and walking slowly, which isn't stupid, but when they are turning their carts to block whole aisles, stopping in entryways, spreading out as a group so no one can get around, and being completely oblivious that others are in the store, frustration can often occur for other shoppers.

Stupidity isn't only happening in the stores, as the roads seem to be just as bad, if not worse. There has been some egregious parking lately in store parking lots, at restaurants, and even at the hospital. Drivers are getting impatient, as the wait to turn out of parking lots grows, lines at stoplights are longer, and navigating through traffic is much tougher. It is causing drivers to lose their patience and make stupid decisions such as pulling out in front of cars, trying to cut off other drivers, and making choices on the road they otherwise wouldn't make. It is putting others at risk, to perhaps save a few seconds or minutes

The good news is that the days of stupidity are almost over. That doesn't mean all of it will go away, but it will lessen as the holiday shoppers will go into hibernation and things will return to normal. Take a breath, relax, and try to make it through the remaining days until Christmas. For those who are contributing, make better decisions and be more considerate of the people around you this holiday season.
