Prepare to Be Frustrated With Magic Valley Road Closures this Spring
With winter in the past and spring in full swing, many are excited to be back outside and taking afternoon drives, enjoying fresh air, and being able to get out. One problem after winter in Idaho is that many of the roads need to be repaired, and like most of us, construction companies have been inside staying warm during the winter, making spring a busy time for crews to fix roads. The biggest problem with this is that when multiple projects are done around the same time, it makes navigating the Magic Valley tough. Here is a guide to help you navigate road closures this spring and a timeline for when some of these roads will be closed and reopen.
Timeline for Streets Closed in the Magic Valley
Sometimes these jobs take one day, other times they take a week, and sometimes they take multiple weeks or months. It can make for a frustrating time for drivers, not knowing day-to-day when a road will be closed or open. By looking in the picture above, you can see some of the dates for roads being closed around Buhl this spring. So many streets are closed, it makes it nearly impossible to get in and out of town. Below are some of those roads and dates as well:
- 3300 North Road (from 800 E to 900 E) Closed April 16 through April 22
- 700 East Road (from 3700 N to 3800 N) Closed April 16 through April 23
- 1300 East Road (from 3500 N to 3400 N) Closed April 16 through April 24
- 1400 East Road (from 2700 to 4000) Closed April 21 through May 9
More Street Closed in the Magic Valley
These are not the only roads that will be closed shortly, as more roads in the area will also be closed for some work. The most notorious and frustrating closure will be 4100 N, also known as Pole Line. The road has been closed off and on, and even when open should be taken with caution with loose gravel, dips, and uneven roads. They will be closing in the future to tear the road up and repair it. Eastland in Twin Falls is currently closed in certain parts and is being worked on. Both of these projects will take time and will be closed for some time. They will be inconvenient for drivers, but when done, should make for better driving conditions.

While these roads need work done, pipes need to be laid, and poles need to be replaced, it doesn't make it easier for drivers to cope with.
