The Magic Valley is constantly under construction it seems. No matter what time of year it is, there is always a road being worked on. In extreme cases, like near Burley on I-84, construction has been taking place for years. Sometimes these jobs force roads to close, and they can be closed for a day, a few days, a week, or longer. It can be irritating and inconvenient for drivers in the area, as they have to go out of their way to reach their destination. There is one road closed that is causing major issues in the Magic Valley and has plenty of residents and drivers upset.

For those who live out in Buhl and work in Twin Falls or do their grocery shopping in Twin, frustration has been growing over the last few weeks as one of the roads to town has been closed. Some refer to it as Pole Line, others refer to it as E 4100 N, but no matter how you reference it, it has been a nightmare for drivers the last couple of weeks. Construction on the road has led to drivers having to switch gears and head on over to HWY 30 to get to their destination, or to head over to Sawtooth Rd, or E 4200 N, whichever you prefer to call it. While the quickest and straightest path being closed isn't ideal, there is a bigger issue that is frustrating drivers.

Typically when a road is closed in the Magic Valley there are signs to let you know about a detour or that you can't get through. There are signs for the closure on Pole Line, but not until you get close enough to see that you can't drive through. This is causing an issue for residents, as it would be nice to know the road is closed sooner. When drivers are exciting HWY 93 to get onto Pole Line, there should be a sign there letting them know 'No through street,' this way drivers can choose to go down HWY 93, get off on HWY 30, and go that way, or turn to go to Sawtooth Rd sooner. Instead, they are finding out at the last second. On the other side, it would be nice to let drivers know before they turn off HWY 30 to get onto Pole Line. By having the signs at the construction area, drivers will take Pole Line each day, hoping it is open, to find out they wasted valuable minutes when they could have stayed on HWY 30, or taken a different route.

The road being closed has lasted longer than many have anticipated, and hope is high that it will soon be open once more, to allow easier access to and from Twin Falls and Buhl. If you are headed to either one, it is best to go through Filer, and stick to HWY 30 for now.
