The Eugene Ballet is taking up residency at The College of Southern Idaho's Fine Arts Auditorium for the next two evenings as they present their annual production of The Nutcracker.

This production has been on my family's radar for many months. Having a 16-year-old daughter who is heavily involved in her school's drama department, and a wife who took dance classes here in Twin Falls as a youth, tonight's performance has them both beyond thrilled. Come to think of it, my wife's Phantom of the Opera buzz still hasn't completely worn off from our last live theater experience in Boise, at The Morrison Center this past June.

From Andrew Lloyd Webber last summer, to Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky tonight, dare I say I'm becoming cultured, maybe even an aficionado. My only experience with Tchaikovsky to this point has come from watching Fantasia--something about tiny, illuminous fairies spinning webs--I don't know, I was a teenager, young and impressionable.

According to the ballet company's website, The Eugene Ballet will be celebrating 40 years of performing throughout the country in 2018, so I think we might be in for a treat tonight. I'll report back tomorrow.

For tickets, or other information, you can log onto the CSI Fine Arts Box Office site.
