Now that the holidays are over and 2020 has begun, it might be time to start the recovery process from crowded malls, the aftermath of hosting relatives and a schedule that hasn't included personal leisure in weeks. It might be time to head out for a few days of rest and relaxation at one of Idaho's best kept secret stayovers.

I don't know about you, but I'm long overdue for an opportunity to get out of town and not have to deal with alarm clocks, city noise or a smart phone messaging tone that pings every two minutes. Three words are all that are on my mind now that the holidays are behind us, and those are...Do-Not-Disturb.

After two straight years have passed where we had to cancel our big vacation plans--in 2018 it was a planned road trip to Banff National Park, and last year it was Jackson Hole--I'm going to do everything in my power in 2020 to disconnect, and take my family out of town for a few days.

There are a number of great cabin rentals throughout the Gem State that appear to offer just what the doctor ordered in the way of "off-the-grid" temporary housing. From rentals near Yellowstone National Park to Salmon Challis National Forest, and north to Kootenai County, there are some great spots to consider.
