This fall has been a cold and wet one for southern Idaho. With two weeks to go until the official start of winter, the Magic Valley will once again get hit with a frosty, gusty, and rainy period of weather beginning Friday that will stick around for a couple of days.

For those Idahoans that answer, "winter," when asked what their favorite season is, well Congratulations, because Jack Frost will once again pay a visit to Twin Falls to end the work week. Have those snow shovels and bags of ice melt ready for Friday and Saturday.

Personally, I'm not a fan of any type of weather that resembles winter. I understand that the western United States needs precipitation badly due to years of terribly devastating drought conditions, but I still prefer a sunny forecast no matter what month it is.

The extended forecast for the Magic Valley is calling for a mixture of clouds and sunshine Wednesday and Thursday with highs in the low to mid-thirties. Once Friday rolls around, the percentages for precipitation climb from single digits to over 40 percent. Overnight temperatures will fall into the upper twenties, which will likely produce snowfall Friday evening through Saturday. Winds are also expected to pick up in the region within this window of time as well.

A dense fog advisory combined with icy roads will also make morning commutes dangerous in some areas of southern Idaho this week. Remember to leave plenty of distance between you and the automobile in front of you when visibility is low.
