UPDATE 12/18/25: The GoFundMe has been a huge success in raising money to help the family. Updated information has also been shared by family members regarding the condition of the kids. Viviana's injuries haven't required any surgeries yet and she is still being monitored. Porter has more severe injuries and has undergone surgery to correct some of the damage. Updates can be found on the GoFundMe page.

ORIGINAL STORY 12/17/25: The wind today has been brutal. Power has been knocked out in some areas, semi-trucks have blown over on the highway, trampolines and Christmas yard decorations have blown away, and trees have been knocked down.

But property damage isn’t the only critical issue with the recent storm: Two children waiting for their school bus in Twin Falls were severely injured when a large tree fell on them.

Severe Wind Blows Tree Down and Critically Injures 2 Children in Idaho

The tragic event happened early on Wednesday morning as the two children, 11-year-old Porter and 6-year-old Viviana, were waiting for their school bus near 3400 N and 3100 E. The kids were waiting near several ‘old, internally rotten’ trees when one of them fell. Vivian and Porter were severely injured. The tree also took down power lines as it fell. Despite the intense winds, KIVITV reports that an Air St. Luke’s helicopter was able to land in a nearby field to quickly take one of the kids to a local hospital. The other child was taken by ambulance.

Pictures of the scene were shared by the Twin Falls County Sheriff’s Office.

A family member of the kids has set up a GoFundMe to help raise money for the medical bills. The GFM also shares details about the children’s injuries:

Porter suffered severe damage to his pelvis, and Viviana's injuries are still being determined, but we know they are serious.
