Visually, this is going to be an amazing week in Southern Idaho. Every day is forecast to be in the upper 30s and sunny.

But there will be one big issue that should keep you indoors, despite the sunshine. The air quality is going to be horrible.

The Air Stagnation in the Magic Valley is Going to Ruin a Beautiful Week

While loads of sunshine, nearly nonexistent wind, and temperatures near 40 degrees in the middle of winter may sound nice, the air in Southern Idaho could cause serious issues for people with respiratory issues. The air stagnation could also be a real headache for everyone else.

The National Weather Service has issued an Air Stagnation Advisory for parts of Southern Idaho, including Boise, Twin Falls, and their surrounding towns.

An air stagnation advisory means an extended period of stagnant air with little to no wind can create high levels of air pollutants. Those with preexisting conditions are the most at-risk but all people should be aware of prolonged exposure to stagnant and polluted air.

The Air Stagnation Advisory is in effect starting Monday evening (January 13th) through Friday morning (January 17th).
