There were two fatal accidents reported on Idaho highways over the weekend. Idaho State Police sent news releases on Saturday regarding a vehicle that had hit a rock wall and on Sunday regarding an ATV accident.

The news releases were sent on different days, but both accidents happened on May 2nd. Details on each accident can be found below.

Northern Idaho Vehicle Accident Claims Life of California Man

The first accident reported by the Idaho State Police happened on May 2nd, around 6:22 AM, on State Highway 200 near Clark Fork to the east of Lake Pend Oreille. The initial investigation indicates drugs or alcohol may have been a factor in the accident. The ISP report states:

A Hyundai Equus was traveling east when it veered off the roadway and struck a rock face.

The vehicle was occupied by a 45-year-old female driver from San Pedro, CA, and a 65-year-old male from Union City, CA.

The driver was wearing a seatbelt and was taken to a local hospital by ground ambulance. The passenger was not wearing a seatbelt and passed away at the scene of the accident.

Southern Idaho Accident Claims Life of Female ATV Rider

The second fatal weekend accident happened a few minutes before midnight on May 2nd in Malad City. The crash happened at the corner of 2100 W and 1000 N:

A 41-year-old female from Malad City was driving a 2017 Polaris RZR when the vehicle left the roadway and collided with a tree.

The woman was not wearing a seatbelt and passed away at the scene of the accident.

Both accidents are being investigated by the Idaho State Police.
