I lived more than 40 years in this great world of ours before I found out that you can go online to see all the ridiculous personalized license plates that get rejected. It was during the pandemic that I first found out about the lists, and it was comedy gold.

For real, what type of people are going in and asking for these plates? I get that some are clever and others aren’t actually offensive, it’s just that they could be considered offensive depending on who is trying to decipher them. On the list this year are some clearly offensive plates though, so proceed with caution when we get to the gallery.

I will admit that I don’t know why all of these got rejected because I can’t make any sense out of them. One that I think was wrongly rejected was PVRTWGN. Sure, it looks like PERVERT WAGON but what if it was meant to say POVERTY WAGON because the owner has 8 kids they haul around in it? Also, SHP00PI obviously got rejected because it has ‘poop’ in it, but Shipoopi is a great song from The Music Man. Then, who wants OWLP00H or M01ST as a defining feature on their car?
