2 Single Vehicle Fatality Accidents in Northern Idaho on Tuesday

Two people were killed in car accidents on Tuesday in Northern Idaho. In both cases, the deceased drivers were not wearing seatbelts at the time of the accidents.

Idaho State Police responded to both accidents in Northern Idaho.

Lumber Truck Driver Killed in Accident

ISP responded to an accident in Nez Perce County, near Lewiston, on Tuesday afternoon around 3:30 on US95:

A 2014 Volvo semi-tractor hauling a loaded flatbed trailer of lumber was driven by a 55-year-old male from Nampa, ID. The semi was traveling at a high rate of speed, lost control, overturned, and came to rest in Escape Ramp 5. The driver was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected. He succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The highway was blocked for approximately 12 hours for investigation and recovery of the vehicle and lumber.

Female Driver Killed in Rollover Accident

On Tuesday afternoon, just before 3PM, Idaho State Police responded to a rollover accident involving a Toyota 4Runner on State Highway 3 in Kootenai County:

A 40 year old female, from St Maries, Idaho, was driving a black 2001 Toyota 4Runner, southbound on State Highway 3, when she left the roadway and entered the westbound ditch. The black 2001 Toyota 4Runner rolled after leaving the roadway. The driver of the 4Runner was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. The driver of the 4Runner was pronounced dead on-scene. State Highway 3 was blocked for approximately 5 and a half hours. Coeur d'Alene Tribal Police and Harrison Fire and EMS assisted with the crash.

Both accidents mentioned above are under investigation by Idaho State Police.
