Popular Idaho Town Is One Of The Most Mispronounced Places In America

One of the most annoying things you could say in Boise is just that - Boise. And you know exactly what we mean: "BoYzZzee."

Now, that's enough to make any local pull their hair out and rightfully so, right? If you're going to live in a city, learn how to pronounce it right. As a matter of fact, just go to any concert and listen to the musical act say "Boyzee" and listen to the crowd reaction.

Nine times out of ten, you'll hear a couple of voices shout: "IT'S BOY-SEE!"

We can't say we blame them either, it can be annoying to hear your town's name mispronounced on a regular basis.

Another Idaho Town Is In The Same Boat As Boy-See

If you think it's annoying to correct people on how to correctly pronounce Boise, just you wait.

A report reveals that another popular city in Idaho is one of the most mispronounced in America. And allow us to be candid for a moment, when we saw this report we automatically assumed it was Boise and almost moved on.

Thank goodness we didn't!

According to Frommer's, a site specializing in travel, they revealed the top places in America that are the most mispronounced and it's time for Boise to move over.

The most mispronounced city in Idaho is none other than Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.

It shouldn't be that obvious as most of us have heard pronunciations like "coor-duh-lean" and "cower-dee-uh-lene."

And in case you didn't know, it's pronounced: kor-duh-LANE.

While that might be obvious to locals, one thing we found interesting was how this site says that people from Idaho refer  to Coeur d'Alene as "CDA", going as far as to call it "local practice."
