Is Idaho Emerging As A Good UFL Expansion Location?
The United Football League announced its expansion process,
and are "looking forward to identifying communities that have potential" for a spring football team, "these expansion efforts validate our vision and early success, demonstrating how spring football resonates with fans and reinforcing our commitment to broadening its reach."
With the league's vision of growth and ability to bring fans together, one big question comes to mind. Could Boise & the Treasure Valley make the cut? Let's dive into that.
What's the UFL Looking For?
- Fan Interest and Sports Culture - A city's level of sports enthusiasm matters.
- Geography and Population - A prime location and a solid population base are essential to fill those seats and make the team sustainable.
- Venue and Infrastructure Availability - A proper stadium and facilities are non-negotiable. Fans need a place to cheer and tailgate.
The Case for Boise (And the Treasure Valley!)
- Fan Interest and Sports Culture - I would say Boise has a good sports scene with the help of Boise State football. You can't forget about the hockey fans who sell out Steelheads hockey games in Boise, and then there is the Boise Hawks baseball team.
- Geography and Population - Everyone under the sun in the Treasure Valley knows how fast the area has been growing. It's growing so fast that it's making a lot of people very upset. Boise's location is a central hub for neighboring states like Utah and Oregon, meaning football fans could travel in for game day.
- Venue and Infrastructure - Could the UFL use Albertsons Stadium? The UFL might want a dedicated space for its operations, but in the meantime, it would be cool to see some more football on the blue turf. The city's growing infrastructure of hotels and restaurants could be fitting for accommodating fans and athletes.
The real question is, could a UFL team thrive here? What do you think?
For Boise to land a UFL team, local stakeholders would need to submit a strong proposal showcasing the city's assets and passion. It's an ambitious goal, but one that feels achievable.
Let's have some fun. What would you name the UFL Team?
